We're delighted to announce that we invested £50 million across our hotels in 2016 and 2017, improving and upgrading areas including bedrooms, bathrooms, furnishings, air conditioning and conference and events spaces.  The investment is sure to please the one-and-a-half million sleepers who stay with QHotels each year.

Over £1 million will be spent specifically on Wi-Fi facilities, which will benefit conference and events customers by increasing the available bandwidth and access points associated with streaming and connecting multiple devices.

  • If any part of your event does not meet our Service Delivery Guarantee, please notify us. If we fail to rectify the situation to your satisfaction, we will deduct 20% from your final invoice.
  • You will receive an immediate acknowledgment to any event enquiry and a response within an agreed timescale that suits you.
  • A Specialist Events Manager will handle all the details of your event, and you will be able to contact them directly at any time.
  • You will not be charged any hidden extras. All prices will be simply presented in plain English, so they are clearly understood.
  • Your meeting room will be set up in the format you request, at least 30 minutes before your event starts, unless agreed otherwise.
  • We will deliver messages and faxes to the meeting room or other agreed points within ten minutes of receipt.
  • All refreshment breaks and meals will start and finish no later than the times specified and agreed before the event.
  • The Events Manager will conduct a debrief with you before you leave, if you wish. Within three days, you will receive a follow-up call to discuss your event and a guarantee to respond to any points raised within 48 hours.
  • We will send your bill no later than three working days after the event. It will clearly reflect the written quotation, plus any extra charges that you have authorised.

What is carbon offsetting?
 
Your conference can impact the environment simply by using the air conditioning during your event or even just by using electricity while you are at the hotel. Carbon offsetting balances the carbon emissions produced by an activity with equivalent reductions in carbon emissions elsewhere. These reductions are achieved through investment in renewable energy, energy efficiency or reforestation projects in the developing world, that would not have been possible without the finance generated by the sale of carbon offset credits.
 
Where does the contribution go?
 
We have teamed up with Carbon Clear (find out more about Carbon Clear HERE), a world-leader in carbon management. Carbon Clear then use the contribution to put towards projects that have a positive impact on the environment.
 
What initiative will you be contributing towards?
 
All contributions made through QHotels will go towards the Kibale National Park Reforestation in Uganda. The project contributes to climate change mitigation by sequestering greenhouse gases in existing forest sinks and increasing natural tree cover, through the planting of indigenous trees species and assisted natural regeneration of existing forest.
 
How do you take part?
 
We have added a tick box on to our online enquiry form, so if you wish to take part in this fantastic cause, simply tick the box upon initial enquiry. We will then issue your proposal with the total contribution highlighted separately on the final invoice. Taking part in the scheme allows you to negate carbon emissions produced by your delegates when travelling to a conference, meeting or event at QHotels as well as during their stay with us.

Over £2.2M invested in market-leading Wi-Fi upgrade

We know how important a good internet connection is to you when organising a conference, meeting or event.

In 2016, we invested over £2.2 million in upgrading Wi-Fi access and bandwidth across our all hotels, giving our customers a faster, more reliable connection.

As a result of the upgrade works:

  • Up to 500 simultaneous connections are available at each internet access point
  • Each hotel's free Wi-Fi offering has increased from a shared 8Mbps to 90Mbps
  • Dedicated bandwidth capacity for conferences and events has increased from 90Mbps to up to 900Mbps

The improved service also ensures a fair-share approach to Wi-Fi access per device, ensuring each phone, laptop or tablet has an equal share of the Wi-Fi available. Hotel guests frequently have two or three connected devices each, which is why bandwidth management has been implemented.

How can dedicated bandwidth benefit my event?

As you don't have to share your internet connection with anyone else, your download speeds will not be affected by other users.

Fair usage policy

Our fantastic free and easy access Wi-Fi service, for all guests and visitors, was launched in July 2011, with a view to providing the best possible service to our wide range of clientele.

The last 18 months have seen an explosion of internet-enabled devices, as well as the rapid growth of applications and content that these devices can run. This has lead to occasions, during peak usage times, whereby lower-bandwidth consumers (e.g. web browsing or emailing) have been adversely affected by higher-bandwidth users (e.g. video streaming).

In view of this, QHotels have now installed a Netequalizer server to manage guest bandwidth. In essence, this means the server constantly monitors guest bandwidth usage at each hotel and if usage rises above 85% of the available capacity, the server will penalise high-bandwidth users.

Utilising this type of technology helps us to ensure each user receives a fair allocation of the available bandwidth and offer the best possible service to our customers.
